Proof Positive

Here is official proof that I finished my Branching Out. I finished about two (+?) months ago, but finally blocked it and took a picture. She's a purdy little scarf. My wife loves it and is now requesting matching mittens.

Another leaf on the tree

Nederlass was kind enough to inform me of this group... my first knit along! I just returned from the Michigan Fiber Festival, but before I start in on all that wonderful yarn, I must first complete my Branching Out Scarf.

I am making this scarf to donate to an auction that will benefit some good friends of mine, Beverlee, Lennox & Company. Seeing as I only began knitting last night, I don't have much to show for my efforts just yet. I, too, am using Filatura di Crosa's Gioiello (in color 6 -- no choice of my own!), the single skein being a gift from a friend in my local knitting group. As soon as I've made some more progress, or at least by the end of my scarf, I'll get a pic posted. Knit on!

Finished

Here it is blocking

Here it is done :)

I actually finished it a week or so ago-not long after my last post, but it took me a while to figure out where to block it. Because of the varigated yarn the pattern does not photograph well, but you can see it really well in person. This was a fun pattern; pretty easy for lace.

Happy knitting everyone!!

Starting to Branch Out

Starting to Branch Out

I cast on last night, using Koigu #436. I am in love with the colors, but I truly hope it comes out better when I block it. Has anyone else seen it look more defined once it is blocked?

Just starting

Hello you all! This is my first knitalong and I am happy to be here and to see so many beautiful FO's. I am knitting this scarf for my mom first, using Filatura di Crosa Gioiello shade 6 (green/black/gold) which is a mohair/wool/cotton/acrylic blend and it's fantastic. Then I plan to make one for myself using mohair on a shade of blue. I just casted on last saturday and im on 8 reps right now but the photo shows only about 3. Will keep you posted and knit on.

Finished!

I finished my first Branching Out, complete with yarn overs done the wrong way. :-) It's actually been done for a few months now, but I wanted to show a picture and I have been too lazy/busy to scan it in until tonight. There is a pic on my blog, however, the yarn didn't photograph too well, it is much more shimmery in person. For the most part it turned out pretty good. Blocking helped to bring out the lace pattern, but it still isn't exactly how I wanted it. Since I wanted to do the pattern correctly, I have a ball of silky wool that I'm one repeat into- it even has real yarn overs.

it's done

I finished BO#2... this one is made Knit Picks "color your own" and we did using Kool Aid!
It's 31 repeats and is 51 inches long and 5 inches wide (blocked) I used 4.5mm bamboo needles.
DJ loves, (no more like LOVES) it... she even wore it today just around the yarn...lol.

I think I have to make at least one more.... I love this pattern!!

On hold ...

I'm putting my BO on hold for a couple of weeks. I had to, again, tear it back to my lifeline because I made a silly mistake and I'd rather sit it aside for awhile rather than get frustrated with it. It's a great pattern, and fun to do, but doing it with the kids around is nearly impossible, so I'll have to wait until they're in bed to work on it in peace.

More Than Halfway There

I'm 23 repeats into the pattern and I think I'm going to do between 35 and 40. I posted a close-up so you could see the pattern from a distance it just looks like nondescript lace. The yarn is a varigated cotton I bought a couple of months ago--I know it's not the best choice for lace but I like it :)

halfway there

Happy knitting!

picked BO up again

after being left in the dark little bag it's been calling home.. BO has been in there for probally weeks... yeah I know...shame shame on me. But yesterday I took it out and did 7 more repeats on it, now I'm up 22 repeats!! No picture, it's looks the same as it did before, only longer ;~)

I'm probally only going up to 30 repeats, it's for my daughter, and she doesn't want it extremely long.

the next time I post it will be blocked and around her little neck.

Back to Branching Out

I've taken a little break to finish up several projects that were gathering dust. I stuck with it and now BO is my only unfinished knitting project. I'm now up to 18 repeats. I think I want to take it to 40 (in Silky Wool) so I am 45% finished. Today I switched over to using the chart instead of the written instructions and it is going much more quickly. I was even able to do three repeats (without errors!!!) during SnB. This is very good news.

KAL Newbie

Hi all! Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Sarah, my blog is nikki knits. I just started up a branching out and wanted to share some initial pics. Can't wait to see more of the progress as people go. I also love that the yarn options can be so varied for this scarf and still turn out so wonderfully.
